About SEVA
Building safer, healthier, inclusive and resilient communities.
Social Empowerment & Voluntary Association (SEVA) is a grassroots development organisation established in 2008 with a commitment to creating safer, healthier, inclusive and resilient communities.
For more than 17 years, SEVA has worked with vulnerable communities, particularly children, adolescent girls, women and disadvantaged families, helping them move from vulnerability towards dignity, opportunity and self-reliance.

Our direction
From vulnerability towards dignity, opportunity and self-reliance.
Theory of Change
SEVA believes that lasting social change happens when vulnerable people are empowered, communities take ownership, and local systems become stronger and more responsive.
Working with people, not simply for them.
We start by understanding the needs, vulnerabilities and aspirations of communities. By creating awareness, strengthening capacities, connecting people with services and opportunities, and building partnerships with institutions and government systems, SEVA seeks to address both immediate vulnerabilities and their underlying causes.
IF
People gain greater awareness, access, skills and a stronger voice.
If vulnerable children, women and communities have greater awareness of their rights, access to essential services and opportunities, stronger skills and capacities, and meaningful participation in decisions affecting their lives.
AND
Families, communities and institutions can recognise and act on vulnerabilities.
If local stakeholders are empowered to take collective action and create safer and more supportive environments.
AND
Government and community systems are strengthened together.
If systems are strengthened through collaboration, coordination and local ownership, responses become more connected and sustainable.
THEN
People and communities are better able to shape their futures.
They can protect their rights, access opportunities, respond to challenges, reduce vulnerabilities and make informed decisions—leading to stronger, more inclusive, self-reliant and resilient communities.
From understanding needs to sustained social change.
A clear pathway connects community insight, rights awareness, capacity building, services, participation and stronger systems to long-term dignity, inclusion and resilience.
Sustainable change begins by listening to communities.
Our work focuses on child protection, women and adolescent girls’ empowerment, education, health and nutrition, disaster preparedness and resilience, financial literacy, rural development and community empowerment.
We believe sustainable change begins by listening to communities, strengthening local leadership and creating solutions that communities can own and sustain.
Our Vision Is Simple
Every person deserves dignity, every child deserves a safe and hopeful childhood, and every community deserves the opportunity to build a better future.
Focused action for vulnerable children, women, families and communities.

Child Protection
Child protection remains a core area of our work. SEVA works towards preventing child marriage, child sexual abuse, child trafficking and child labour through awareness, early identification, counselling, timely intervention and coordination with government and statutory child-protection systems.
Support Systems
We also work to strengthen the ability of children, families and communities to access appropriate support and services.
Women & Girls Empowerment
Through our women and adolescent girls’ empowerment programmes, we promote rights awareness, education, confidence, leadership, health and nutrition, financial literacy and livelihood opportunities.
Meaningful Participation
Our aim is to enable women and girls to participate meaningfully in decisions affecting their lives and communities.
Disaster Preparedness
Disaster preparedness and resilience is another important pillar of SEVA. Our programmes cover community, school, hospital and institutional safety, including first aid, CPR, fire safety, emergency preparedness, search and rescue and risk reduction.
Prepared Communities
We believe communities must be prepared before emergencies occur.
People become agents of change when knowledge, confidence, opportunity and supportive systems come together.
SEVA measures success not only by activities completed, but by changes in knowledge, behaviour, agency, access, participation, protection and resilience that can be sustained beyond individual interventions.
Four core values
Dignity, empowerment, integrity and resilience shape the way SEVA works with communities, partners, donors and institutions.
Dignity &
Inclusion
Respecting the dignity, rights and potential of every individual while ensuring no one is left behind.
Empowerment &
Ownership
Building knowledge, confidence, skills and leadership so communities can shape and own their future.
Integrity &
Accountability
Acting with honesty, transparency and responsibility towards communities, partners and institutions.
Resilience &
Sustainability
Strengthening people, communities and systems to withstand challenges and create lasting solutions.
